How to pin a comment on YouTube: sign in, go to the comments under your video, select the comment, click More, choose Pin, then click PIN to confirm. You can pin your own comment or a viewer's comment. Pinning a new comment replaces the one already pinned on that video.

What are the steps to pin a comment on a computer?

  1. Sign in to YouTube.
  2. Open your video and scroll to its comments.
  3. Find the comment you want, either one you wrote or one from a fan.
  4. Click More next to the comment.
  5. Click Pin. If a comment is already pinned, this one replaces it.
  6. Click PIN in the confirmation box.

The comment moves to the top of the comments with a "Pinned by" icon and your channel name.

How do you pin a comment in the YouTube Studio app?

In the YouTube Studio app, open Community from the bottom menu and go to the comments for one video. Tap the comment, tap More, then tap Pin. YouTube Help notes that this option only appears when you are viewing the comments for an individual video, not the combined list for your whole channel.

Why is the Pin option missing?

YouTube Help says you need access to advanced features to pin comments. If you just turned that access on, it can take up to 24 hours to apply. Also check that you are signed in to the channel that owns the video, because you can only pin comments on your own videos. Comments are not available on private videos, so a private video has nothing to pin.

Where do viewers see a pinned comment?

On a computer, the pinned comment shows at the top of the comments with the "Pinned by" icon and the channel name. On mobile, viewers need to tap to expand the comments. YouTube Help also says a pinned comment is not guaranteed to show in the comment preview under the video, but it will be first when someone opens all comments.

What should a pinned comment say?

YouTube's comment tips suggest a few uses for a pin:

  • Clarify something from the video, like a correction or a missing detail.
  • Ask viewers a question to start the conversation.
  • Point to a moment or easter egg worth looking out for.
  • Thank viewers for watching.

Keep it short so the point lands before viewers scroll past.

How do you unpin a comment?

Open the same More menu on the pinned comment and choose Unpin. You can unpin at any time, and the comment goes back to its original place in the list.

FAQ

How many comments can I pin on one video? One. Pinning a second comment replaces the first.

Can I pin a viewer's comment?Yes. You can pin your own comment or a fan's comment on your video.

Can I pin a comment on an unlisted video?Comments work on unlisted videos, so yes. Private videos do not have comments.

Is a pinned comment always visible under the video? No. YouTube Help says it is not guaranteed to show in the comment preview, but it is first when viewers open all comments.

What I found running this

Facts checked on 26 Oct 2026 against the YouTube Help pages listed in Sources (pinning comments on desktop, reviewing comments in the YouTube Studio app, the comments tips page). We did not run our own engagement test on pinned comments, so this post makes no claim about how much a pin lifts replies or views.
